Bowling Alley Baby Shower Ideas

Bowling Alley shower???
So one of my friends wants to host my shower, but his townhouse has no parking. So he suggested this upscale bowling alley, https://www.3hundred.com/ I'm pretty untraditional anyways. Do you think it would be really weird to have a baby shower at a bowling alley? Or just quirky?
And is it weird if guests have to pay for their own lanes and shoe rental?

I think it would be fun!! Something different than the norm
-
I want this friend to throw my shower. That is awesome.
And yes, I think it's weird to have guests pay for their own lanes and shoe rental. The same rules apply as to everyday etiquette: if you invite, you pay. I'm sure you can arrange a package price with the alley.

Definitely out of the norm, but I love bowling! I'd have fun at that shower.

As a guest, i'd prefer it over brunch and silly baby games!
If you have mostly friends and fam you own age, I think it's perfect. If you have a lot of older ladies and grandparents, they may not have as much fun.

I think it sounds super fun and ditto this. Shower host pays.

I was just at an upscale place for a birthday party this weekend, and they were having baby showers at night. I think it sounds fun.
Also, I think the lanes and shoes should be covered in the shower, not by guests.

You're out of your mind. My grandma always kicks my a$$ when we go bowling.

That sounds awesome, so awesome in fact that I am considering it since I saw on their website they have a location near me lol. My bridal shower was the traditional group of women sitting around, it was even held in an old mansion with tea cups as favors. I far prefer a bowling party for my baby shower over that haha.
Oh, I also saw that in their birthday packages shoes etc. are included for the guests so it seems like the guests wouldn't have to pay for themselves.

I love that idea. Definitely out of the norm, but sounds like a lot of fun.

I think that would be a lot of fun. Plus all the focus wouldn't be on the pregnant mom the whole time.

I think it would be fun. those are way cooler bowling alleys then we have around here. I'd RSVP for those that want to bowl. Not everyone will want to. Good luck.

That sounds more fun than a traditional baby shower. You should pay (or your host should pay) for your guests' lanes and shoes, up to 2 games or something.

my best friend had her wedding rehearsal dinner at a bowling alley. it was the most fun i've ever had at a rehearsal, and everyone absolutely loved it. rent a few lanes, get some easy food (sandwiches, salads, etc.) and let everyone go at it.

Ditto to this entire post. Even if not for the shower, at least for a night out with friends! Love that there's one nearby!

I think this sounds great. I really hate going to my own showers though (I really hate shower games and the awkwardness of showers) so this sounds like a pretty awesome alternative.

That place looks nice, lmao...no bowling alleys like that where I'm from! But definately sounds like a good time waiting to happen!
However to copy everyone else, shower host should pay. You can't invite someone to a shower, expect them to bring a gift, buy their own shoes and lane.

I would love to have a shower like this! I hate being the center of attention and a fun activity during the shower would definitely cut that down a bunch!
I do agree with everyone else though...guests should not be asked to pay for anything!

Great idea and if you can afford it, you may want to offer to pay or at least help the hostess on costs.
My BFF and I threw showers for each other a couple of months apart with our first babies and we each footed the bill for our own shower (I had a lot more family/guests in town). No one knew the difference, and I felt better about not putting her out.
-
That actually sounds like fun, especially if you are doing a co-ed shower. I think people get bored with the traditional stuff after a while, anyway.
One thing, I wouldn't make people pay for their own lanes and shoes. I would imagine the place has different packages for private parties, including maybe a private room/area for a cake, decorations, gifts, etc. Have your friend get some more info.
-
When we got married, we had a sedate afternoon reception for the relatives and then an after party for our friends and looked at having the after party at that exact place. The packages ended up being way out of our price range, and you couldn't go over a certain number of people *without* buying a package, so we ended up elsewhere. But they definitely had plenty of options for the people who wouldn't be interested in bowling, so it wouldn't be weird at all.
